I am not a fan of New Year’s resolutions because generally they don’t last.
The reason is that if the motivation for change comes from the hope that with a new year everything will be different, nothing will change. As you will not change anything.
I have been struggling with addictive behaviours in my 20s and 30s. And I was hoping that with each move, each new job, each new year, each anniversary, each birthday,… I would be able to stop, that things would change.
And it was only when I started changing things that things changed.
You need to get the ball rolling.
If you want to change something, do it NOW / TODAY. Take a firm decision, followed by an immediate action.
If you wish to get fit, go for a walk or short run TODAY.
If you wish to lose weight, have a lighter dinner TONIGHT (or throw away the left over Christmas chocolates).
If you desire to improve the relationship with your children or your partner, meet them from a different energy next time you see them – or even go to see them NOW and show them that you care.
It can be a tiny little step towards your end result. But you need to start moving to prove to yourself (and the universe) that you mean it and that it’s already happening.
You will be surprised about the motivational energy you get from simply having started.
“Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.”

Happy New Year!
